A Tourist’s Guide to the Best Places in Melbourne

Living in Melbourne for four months, I’ve managed to pretty much nail the tourist thing. I’m leaving in a couple of weeks and have compiled a list (and a few pics) of where I’ve visited.

Suggestions for rainy days, big day outs, markets, national parks…etc, so here we go..

Rainy Days

Old Melbourne Gaol

Melbourne Museum

National Gallery of Victoria

Victoria Library

Sea Life Centre

Hoyts Cinema (‘cheap’ seats on Tuesdays)

Days Out

Botanical Gardens

Melbourne Zoo

Yarra Valley (Wine Tours)

St. Kilda & Albert Park

NYE from Albert Park

Market Arts Centre

Queen Victoria Market

Prahran Market

Chadstone Shopping Centre (biggest in Australia)

Melbourne CBD

Brighton Beach

Geelong Beach

St. Kilda Beach

Squeaky Beach (Wilson’s Promontory)

National Parks

1000 Steps

Wilson’s Promontory

*The mister’s photos, I unfortunately wasn’t able to go Grampians*

Chinatown (especially dumplings!)

8Bit (cheap burgers)

NeNe Chicken

San Churro’s or Max Brenner (for hot chocolates)

Acland Street, St Kilda

Bay Street, Brighton

Hawthorn Road, Caulfield

*Avoid Hardware Lane if you’re hungry, it is a tourist trap*

Obviously I haven’t gotten around to every thing, I’d still like to visit the Hot Springs, Philip Island and other places but I hope this list either helps with your travels to Melbourne or inspires one!
